Seeking to allay the fear of harassement from the investigating agencies, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has assured the heads of Public Sector Banks that prudent commercial decision making will be protected. Any suspected fraudulent case of more than 3 crore will be first looked upon by the banks' internal committee which will then be sent to the banking regulator and then to the investigative agency. Finance minister also said that CBI will develop a mechanism in which the notices sent by the agency will have a registration number to avoid any scope of unauthorised communication and consequent harrassment. The agency will also create a dedicated phone number on which any person can give information regarding any undue harrassment.
