Explanation:

Some of the salient features of The Charter Act of 1793: - 

1. It extended the life of company's monopoly by 20 years.
2. Royal approval was made mandatory for appointment of Governors, Governor-General & the Commander-in-chief.&
3. The Governor-general was empowered to disregard majority decisions of the council.
4. He could not wage a war or sign a treaty without Parliamentary approval.
5. When he visited the presidencies of Bombay & Madras, he was to supersede the local governors as the Head of the administration.
6. He was empowered to appoint a vice president in his place.
7. Salaries for staff & paid members of the Board of Control was made by the company.
8. Senior officials were prohibited to leave India without permission.
9. The company's dividend was increased to 10%.
10. (a fact that led to opium wars) Company was allowed to grant licenses to trade in its name to private individuals & company employees - Privilege trade.
11. Maal adalats dissappeared after separation of judicial functions & revenue administration.
12. Number of judges in Supreme Court was reduced from 4 to 3.
