Explanation:

• Peninsular India is drained by five major river systems:  Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna, Penner and Cauvery. Roughly triangular in shape with its base coinciding with the southern edge of the great plain of North India. The apex of the triangular plateau is at Kanyakumari, TamilNadu.

This plateau has been separated from the main block of the peninsular plateau by a wide gap known as the GaroRajmahal Gap. This gap was formed by down-faulting and was later on filled by sediments deposited by the Ganga.
• The most oldest sedimentary rocks of India are found  in the  Dharvad plateau.
