Statement 1 is correct: Divergent plate boundary has ascending limb convection current, below ocean it gives rise to Mid Oceanic Ridge and below continent it gives rise to Rift Valley and if the convection cell is active thereafter, then a Nascent Sea is surfced( Great African Rift valley to Red Sea).

Statement 2 is incorrect: When the convergence of two continental plates takes place it does subduct or no subduction takes place refraining from volcanism or volcanic peak but strong earthquake takes place. This phenomenon does not takes place in coast or not located in the coast because the oceanic plates are not involved. Example- Himalayas, Alps, Urals etc.
