Statement 1: Between 1916 and 1918, when the World War-I was gradually approaching an end, prominent Indians like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Sir S.Subramania Iyer, Annie Besant decided to organise a national alliance of leagues across India.It was specifically to demand Home Rule, or self-government within the British Empire for all of India.
