Statement 1: It is located in the Tabo village of Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh. It was founded in 996 CE in the Tibetan year of the Fire Ape.Tabo is noted for being the oldest continuously operating Buddhist enclave in both India and the Himalayas. Statement 2: Kardang Monastery or Gompa is a famous Drukpa Lineage monastery, and is the most important monastery the Lahaul valley, India. The monastery is a huge white building bedecked with prayer flags.
