The Global E-waste Monitor 2017, published by the United Nations University, states that India generates about 2 million tonnes of e-waste annually. It ranks fifth among e-waste producing countries, after the US, China, Japan and Germany. According to ASSOCHAM, e-waste is growing at a compound annual growth rate of about 30% in the country and is estimated to reach 5.2 MT per annum by 2020. In this scenario, management of e-waste has become a huge concern, especially in India due to lack of effective disposal and recycling mechanisms...And these toxic electronic waste products are causing immense damage to us and our environment.
