Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across the Krishna river at Nagarjuna Sagar which is in Nalgonda district, Telangana. Constructed between 1955 and 1967, the dam created a water reservoir with gross storage capacity of 11.472 billion cubic metres Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 kilometres from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India. Behind the dam extends a lake, Hirakud Reservoir, 55 km long. It is one of the first major multipurpose river valley projects started after India's independence. Bhakra Nangal Project is the largest multipurpose river valley project in India. Bhakra Nangal Dam is the world’s highest gravitational dam located in the seismic zone. The construction of the dam started in 1948 and it completed in 1963. In 1970, the dam was fully functioning. Tehri Dam is the highest dam in India and one of the highest in the world. It is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India. It is the primary dam of the THDC India Ltd. and the Tehri hydroelectric complex.
