Countries like India, Iran, Russia and Turkey would have to fight against terrorists in Afghanistan at some point of time, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday, rueing that the job against terrorism was being done only by the United States. Trump’s comments came a day after he indicated that the U.S. forces would not completely withdraw from Afghanistan and America would have “somebody there” to make sure that the Taliban does not regain control. Trump said that the U.S. was fighting the terrorists in Afghanistan despite being 7,000 miles away, while India and Pakistan were not doing so even after being next door. Asserting that the caliphate was gone, he said the U.S. was holding thousands of IS fighters and Europe had to take them. And if Europe doesn’t take them, he would have no choice but to release them into the countries from which they came, which was Germany and France. On this edition of The Big Picture we will analyse India’s Afghan Policy.
