Public Service: ProPublica received the award for investigative reporting by Kavitha Surana, Lizzie Presser, Cassandra Jaramillo, and Stacy Kranitz.

Breaking News Reporting: The Washington Post staff won for their prompt and detailed coverage of the attempted assassination of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. 

Breaking News Photography: Doug Mills of The New York Times was awarded for capturing a dramatic image of a bullet whizzing past Donald Trump during the assassination attempt. 

Editorial Writing: Lisa Falkenberg, Raj Mankad, Leah Binkovitz, and Sharon Steinmann of the Houston Chronicle were honored for their compelling editorials. 

Audio Reporting: The New Yorker staff received the award for excellence in audio journalism. 

Illustrated Reporting and Commentary: Ann Telnaes was recognized for her bold and creative editorial cartoons, which led to her resignation from The Washington Post after the suppression of a cartoon critical of Jeff Bezos.
