The Karachi Resolution was passed by the Indian National Congress at its 1931 Karachi session. The most significant contribution of it was Fundamental Rights and Economic Policy. It outlined the plan for the reconstruction of Indian society after Independene and to furnish many aims and ideals for the Constitution of India and the social and economic policy of the Indian Republic. The Resolution also prohibited intoxicating drinks and drugs, which seems to be a Gandhian influence. The socio-economic provisions in the Karachi Resolution went on to influence the Constituent Assembly in drawing up Part IV of the Indian Constitution – the Directive Principles of State Policy.
