The Wassenaar Arrangement is an elite club of countries which subscribe to arms export controls. It was established in 1996 to contribute to regional and international security and stability by promoting transparency and greater responsibility in transfers of conventional arms. The name comes from Wassenaar, a suburb of The Hague, where the agreement to start such a multi-lateral cooperation was reached in 1995. Recently, this export control regime decided to admit India as its member country. The Australia Group is an informal group of countries established in 1985. Currently, the group has 42 members. The name comes from Australia’s initiative to create the group. It controls the spread of chemical and biological weapons among the member countries. India is not a member of this group. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a Eurasian political, economic, and security organisation. The group entered into force in 2003. Recently, on 9 June, 2017 both India and Pakistan joined as full members. Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) is a multilateral export control regime. It prevents the proliferation of missile and unmanned aerial vehicle technology capable of carrying above 500 kg payload for more than 300 km. In 2016, the Group admitted India as its member country.
