With reference to nuclear energy production what is the use of boiling water in a boiling water reac...........

Let's Discuss

In the question the use of BOILING WATER is asked. Which makes the interpretation quiet confusing. As a mixture of DEMINERALISED WATER (NOT BOILING WATER) is used as a MODERATOR AND COOLANT. If the diagram or flow chart of the working of nuclear reactor is properly seen, the BOILING WATER is used AS MODERATOR only. How can BOILING WATER be used for COOLING? PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG. THANKING YOU

A boiling water reactor is a nuclear reactor in which water is used as a coolant and moderator. Steam is thus produced in the reactor under pressure, and can be used to drive a turbine. BWRs actually boil the water. In both types, water is converted to steam, and then recycled back into water by a part called the condenser, to be used again in the heat process.
