The States and the Central Government derive power from–
the Constitution of India
the President of India
the Prime Minister of India
the Parliament of India
The states and the Central Government derive power from the constitution of India.
A federal government is a type of government in which power is divided between the central government and the regional governments. The Indian Constitution gives federal structure to the nation by specifying the distribution of powers between the central government and the states. Some examples of federal state are the United States, Canada, Brazil, Germany, etc. Both federal and State governments derive their powers from the federal Constitution, both are supreme in particular spheres and both operate directly on the people; the State governments accordingly are not exercising powers delegated by the federal governments.
