Rice is mainly grown in rain fed areas that receive heavy annual rainfall. That is why it is fundamentally a kharif crop in India. It demands temperature of around 25 degree Celsius and above and rainfall of more than 100 cm

Wheat is a crop of temperate climate. The ideal temperature for its cultivation is about 15°-20°C and requires a moderate amount of rainfall of 25-75 cms.

Ragi is suited for cultivation in areas with annual rainfall of 700-1200 mm.

Bajra grows well in dry and warm climate conditions and it's drought tolerant crop which requires low annual rainfall ranging between 40 cm to 60 cm.
