Babur invaded India at the time when Ibrahim Lodi ruled the Indo-Gangetic Plain of northern India. He led the foundation stone of the Mughal empire by defeating Ibrahim Lodi in the First Battle of Panipat. He made the invasion of India by marching towards Delhi via Sirhind. On 20 April 1526, he reached Panipat and used the Tulugma tactic to defeat a numerically superior army of Ibrahim Lodi. Thus, the virtual end of Delhi Sultanate caused by the invasion of Babur.
