Rashtrakuta dynasty had the largest Hindu-Jain Empire in Indian history and was an important period in south India. The earlier leaders of the Rashtrakutas Empire were Hindus and later they moved to Jainism. Their main language was Sanskrit and soon Kannada became an important language for them.
They were pioneers in Kannada literature and there is a number of the recorded works and books of which the ‘Kavirajamarga’, is a good example in Kannada literature from the era.
