Algebra was invented by Aryabhatta, who was a pioneer in astrology, astronomy and Mathematics. He viewed Mathematics as a different subject in itself. However, most people consider Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi as father of Algebra now. He was a 9th-century Muslim mathematician who wrote a book called "Kitab al-Jabr" from which term Algebra has been derived.
