1. Coal is a sedimentary rock.
2. Basalt is an igneous rock.

Sedimentary rocks are formed by the accumulation of sediments. There are  three basic types of sedimentary rocks. Clastic sedimentary rocks such as breccia, conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone, and shale are formed from mechanical weathering debris.Basalt is a common extrusive igneous (volcanic) rock formed from the rapid cooling  of basaltic lava exposed at or very near the surface of a planet or moon.
