A man standing between two parallel hills fires a gun and hears two echoes, one 2.5 s and the other 3.5 s after the firing. If the velocity of sound is 330 ms–1, how long will it take him to hear the third echo?
4 s
5 s
6 s
8 s
As the man is between to parallel walls he first hears the echo after 2.5 seconds and the second after 3.5 seconds
The echo which he heard first will travel the
distance of which the the sound had travelled from which the second echo had been heard similarly it will happen with the second echo the both echos will meet at the same time wher the man is standing the time taken to hear the third echo will be 6 second on the basis of the above explanation given above
2.5 +3.5=6
Hence option 3 is the correct answer.
