Bt transgenic plant is a plant which is the disease resistant plant. It is a gram-positive bacteria which resides in the gut of caterpillars and other insects. The bacteria has a cry gene which translates protein which is known cry protein. Cry protein paralyzes the gut of the insect and kills the insects. These are used as insecticides. The cry gene is inserted into the plant by recombinant DNA technology where the cry proteins produced the insecticidal properties.
