In animals sex determination is due to
X-chromosome
Y-chromosome
A-chromosome
B-chromosome
Sex chromosomes or allosomes are defined as chromosomes, other than autosomes, that are involved in sex determination. Any chromosome other than sex chromosome is referred to as autosome (A) which controls normal traits of an organism. Animals with the XX-XY mechanism of sex determination have X and Y sex chromosomes. The X-chromosome carries genes for feminism while Y-chromosome carries SRY gene that is responsible for the development of testis in human males; absence of this gene in females determines feminism. During meiosis, all the gametes produced by females contain only the X chromosome (A + X), whereas males produce two kinds of gametes, 1/2 gametes with X- and 1/2 with Y-chromosome (A + X and A + Y). Fertilization of egg (A + X) with a sperm carrying A+X chromosomes results in the female child (AA + XX). Fertilization of egg (A+ X) with the sperm carrying A+Y chromosomes results in a male child (AA + XY). Chromosomes are the supernumerary chromosomes which are dispensable and do not play any role in sex determination. Hence option 2nd is correct.
