develop all parts of the country in a balanced manner.
The main purpose is to develop trade (collection of raw material from villages and farms to emporium(trading or exporting depots) and to distribute imported mill made goods to remotest part of country.The railway, thus became important and cheap means of communication and transportation in comparison of latter network of transportation which was dominated by bullock carts and on backs of animals. Latter (from1850s onwards) the railway was use to collect ores from mines which was exported to England for production and the finished goods was imported in india.
