Wular Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes in Asia.It is sited in Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir, India.The lake basin was formed as a result of tectonic activity and is fed by the Jhelum River.

Loktak lake: It is the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India(Manipur), and is famous for the phumdis (heterogeneous mass of vegetation, soil, and organic matter at various stages of decomposition) floating over it. Keibul Lamjao is the only floating national park in the world which is on this lake. The Keibul Lamjao National Park is the last natural refuge of the endangered sangai (state animal) or Manipur brown-antlered deer.

Chilika Lake is a brackish water lagoon, spread over the Puri, Khurda and Ganjam districts of Odisha state on the east coast of India, at the mouth of the Daya River, flowing into the Bay of Bengal.It is Asia’s largest salt-water lagoon and is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a sandy ridge.
