Drought and flood conditions are caused in India because of :
Reliability of rainfall
Unreliability of rainfall
Irregularity of rainfall
Erratic nature of rainfall
India relies heavily on the monsoon for irrigation, though crop damage and delayed harvests can result if the rainfall persists.Monsoons are pulsating in nature. They are irregular due to many reasons but the main reason is change in the pressure and temperature over oceans and land. Droughts are caused due to lack of rains over extended periods of time. A number of factors such as temperature changes between land and water, changes in air circulation and erratic eather patterns can affect rainfall frequency and intensity leading to droughts.
