    what if the options also had Lord Hastings as one of the options?... He was the Governer General when charter act 1913 was passed. this controversy might have started/arose after implementation of charter act of 1913? even though, i agree, that it was settled in 1835 under william bentick. kindly provide suggestion.

    Then also William bentick will be the correct option bcoz the real controversy regarding the education policy to be adopted in India turn out to become a hot potato during this time and not during Lord Hasting though the matter of education was started in the Charter Act of 1813.
