Except in financial matters and control over the council of ministers(individual and collective responsibility), the powers and status of Rajya Sabha in all other spheres are broadly coordinate with that of Lok Sabha.
RS enjoys equal status with LS in the following matters-
1. Introduction and passage of ordinary bills
2. Introduction and passage of conditional amendment bills
3. Election and impeachment of President
4. Election and removal of Vice-President. Here RS enjoys special power as the resolution for removal can only be initiated in RS
5. Approval of President's ordinances
6. Approval and proclamation of all the types of emergencies by the President
7. Selection of ministers and the PM. They can be from either house, but are only responsible to LS.
8. Consideration of reports by constitutional bodies like Finance Commission, UPSC, CAG, etc.
9. Enlargement of jurisdiction of Supreme Court and UPSC.
