A great Hindu political leader was also implicated in the conspiracy to assassinate Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. The leader was, however, acquitted by the special trial court. He was:
Atal Behari Vajpayee (Jan Sangh).
Shyama Prasad Mookerjee (Hindu Maha Sabha).
Vir Savarkar (Hindu Maha Sabha).
Guru Golwalkar (RSS).
Hindu Mahasabha opposed creation of Pakistan, and took exception to Gandhi's continued Muslim appeasement stances.
