The Panama Canal in Panama is a man-made 77 km waterway that connects
Atlantic Ocean and Arctic
Pacific Ocean and Arctic Ocean
Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean
Arctic Ocean and Antarctic Ocean
The Panama Canal is 48 miles (77 kilometers) of made-made waterway that allows ships to pass from the Atlantic to Pacific Oceans. The initial purpose for building the canal was to shorten the distance ships had to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. It enabled shippers to cheaply transport different types of goods within a short period of time. The cost of moving a ship through the Panama Canal has tripled over the past five years to around $450,000 per passage for a vessel carrying 4,500 containers, and this figure is likely to go up upon completion of the expansion process
