A liquid drop tends to assume a spherical shape because of
Surface tension
Viscous force
Gravitational force
Centrifugal force
The liquid surface always acquires minium surface area due to surface tension so, the small droplet of any liquid is always spherical. The attractive force exerted upon the surface molecules of a liquid by the molecules beneath that tends to draw the surface molecules into the bulk of the liquid and makes the liquid assume the shape having the least surface area. "The property of the surface of a liquid that allows it to resist an external force, due to the cohesive nature of its molecules." The cohesive forces between liquid molecules are responsible for the phenomenon known as surface tension.
