Westerly lie above the Subtropical high in Northern Hemisphere (300N) and below the subtropical highs in the Southern Hemisphere (300S), winds below from the West towards the East. These winds are called Westerly winds. This is because it comes from West direction. The Westerly generally blow between 300 and 600 latitude in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
