• A recent study conducted by ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Centre and IISc Bangalore has concluded that Black Carbon released by aeroplanes is potential in depleting ozone layer, affect monsoon and quicken glacier melt.
• The study broke away that myth that black carbon from airplanes cannot go beyond 4km height and will eventually settle down due to winds and rain.

However, the study concluded that the black carbon from airplanes have been found to reach height as high as 18 kilometers, a stable part of atmosphere.
