Global Innovation Index is an index of 130 countries. This year it was the 11th such edition. This year India was ranked at 57th position and move up 3 places compared to 60th rank in 2017.

India emerged as the top-ranked economy in Central and South Asia. India is on a continuous improvement path over past few years. It was ranked 66th in 2016, 60th in 2017 and 57th in 2018. The top 10 countries are Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, UK, Singapore, USA, Finland, Denmark, Germany and Ireland. The first ever GII was published in the year 2007.
