NCVET was given a go ahead this week by the Union Cabinet. It is formed after merging the National Council for Vocational Training and National Skill Development Agency. Its primary functions include: to recognise and regulate awarding bodies, assessment bodies and skill related information providers; to approve qualifications developed by awarding bodies and Sector Skill Councils (SSCs); to regulate indirectly vocational training institutes through awarding bodies and assessment agencies; to conduct Research and disseminate information and to redress Grievances.
