NPCC or National Projects Construction Corporation Limited has been accorded the Miniratna 1 status.

The Public Sector Enterprises are accorded the Ratna Categories when they fulfil certain conditions.

• They are awarded the miniratna category 1 and 2, navratna category and maharatna category.
• The maharatna category was established in 2009 that raised a company’s investment ceiling from 1000 crore rupees to 5000 crore rupees.
• The Maharatna firms can now decided on investment up to 15 per cent of their net worth in a project.  A company should have an annual net profit of over Rs. 2500 crore, net worth of Rs. 10,000 or more and turnover of Rs. 25000 crore.A company must be miniratna before being declared a Navratna and should have 4 independent directors on its board. 
• The navratna can invest up to Rs 1000 crore without explicit government approval. For Navratna status a score of 60 out of 100 is required on six parameters that include net profit, net worth, total manpower cost, total cost of production, cost of services, profit before depreciation, interest and taxes, capital employed etc.
• For miniratna 1 status a company should have made profit for last three years and earned a net profit of Rs 30 crore or more in one of the three years. Lastly, for miniratna 2 status, the country should have made profits for the last three years continuously and should have a positive net worth.

There are currently 7 Maharatnas, 14 Navratnas and 53 Miniratna 1 and 16 Miniratna 2.
