The recent census carried out in Kaziranga National Park, Assam has revealed that there was a marginal increase in the population of the one-horned rhino.
It was designated with National Park status in 1968 and was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 for its unique natural environment. It is also a prominent Bird Area under Birdlife International.
