ASICS stands for Annual Survey of India’s City-Systems.

• The objective of the survey is to measure preparedness of cities to deliver high quality infrastructure and services in long term by evaluating city systems.
• It spans 23 Indian cities and analyses them along 4 categories – urban planning and design, urban capacities and resources, transparency, accountability and participating and empowered and legitimate political representation.
• This year Pune was ranked 1 among these 23 cities. These cities were scored on a scale of 0 to 10 where o is lowest and 10 is highest. Pune got a score of 5.1/10 and was followed by Kolkata,
• Thiruvananthapuram, Bhubaneswar and Surat. Delhi was ranked 6th.
• Worst performers included Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Patna and Chennai from worst to better. The global benchmark were New York with a score of 8.8, London with a score of 8.8 and Johannesburg with a score of 7.6.
