BrahMos Cruise Missile: India successfully test fired the air version of BrahMos cruise missile by firing it off a Sukhoi-30 MKI for the first time. BrahMos is world’s fastest supersonic cruise missile. It is developed jointly by India and Russia. It operates of ‘Fire and Forget Principle’ and is capable to carry both conventional and nuclear warheads. The speed of BrahMos Cruise Missile is roughly 2.8-3.0 Mach. After India became the member of the Missile Technology Control Regime, its range was increased to 600 kilometers from present 290 kilometers. Joint Polar Satellite System-1: NASA has launched a next-generation satellite called the Joint Polar Satellite System-1. It is first multi-day weather forecasting satellite to monitor weather around world and help improve forecasts. It will orbit 14 times around the earth in a day from one pole to other and shall provide the scientists full global coverage twice a day.
