Coastal Economic Zone is an economic region comprising of coastal cities with good connectivity with ports to develop a synergy with planned industrial corridors projects.

• In 2016 the Union Government decided to make 14 CEZs out of which the first CEZ at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust or JNPT was recently set up by the Government.
• The CEZs were part of National Perspective Plan under Sagarmala Project. The JNPT CEZ will comprise of Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nashik and Raigarh districts located in the Konkan coast region of the country.
