India’s first indigenously built INS Kalavari submarine was handed over to Indian Navy by state-owned Mazagaon Dock Limited in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

• It is first of the 6 Scorpene Class submarines built in India under the Project-75 in collaboration with France.
• It is a diesel electric submarine named after deep water tiger shark. It is designed to operate in all theatres including the tropics.
