The ISRO is planning to launch full-fledged niche Earth Observation satellite – Hyperspectral Imaging Satellite or HySIS. Hyperspectral imaging, also called Hyspex, combines the power of digital imaging and spectroscopy.
The HySIS can be used for different applications such as environment, crops, looking for oil and minerals, military surveillance etc. HySIS satellite developed by ISRO can see in 55 spectral or colour bands from 630 km above ground.
