Professor Yash Pal: Professor Yash Pal was a globally renowned physicist, academician and higher education reformer who passed away recently. He was known for his contributions to the study of cosmic rays, as well as for being an institution-builder. He was also one of the leading science communicators in India. He undertook many important positions like chairman of the UGC, chairman of National Council of Educational Research and Training and was also awarded Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his services in the field of science.
