The scientists have for the first time claimed that they have successfully produced human antibodies in the laboratory which can be revolutionary in the sense that it will lead to development of new vaccines to treat a wide range of infectious diseases.

• Antibodies are produced by body’s B cells (B lymphocytes).
• When any B-cell recognises pressure of pathogen derived antigen molecule, it transforms itself into a plasma cell secreting a large number of antibodies that bind to the antigen and kills the infection.
• Antibodies mainly function in humoral adaptive immune system.
