1.      UR Rao: UR Rao is world renowned Indian scientist who was former chairman of ISRO who passed away this July. Professor Rao is credited with having played an instrumental role in building up Indian satellite programme. He was 85 years old.

2.      Ram Nath Kovind: Former Governor of Bihar, Ram Nath Kovind, has been elected as the 14th President of Republic of India. He is the second Dalit President of Indian after KR Narayanan. He defeated the UPA candidate Ms. Meira Kumar in the presidential elections. He was an advocate by profession and had practiced in Supreme Court, Delhi High Court.
