UN Public Service Award: It is the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public service. It rewards the creative achievement and contributions of public service institutions that lead to more effective and responsive public administration in countries worldwide. It was established in 2003 when UNGA recognised June 23 as UN Public Service Day. This year the UN Public Service award has been given to West Bengal state for its Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme. West Bengal has been awarded in the Asia-Pacific group for the category: ‘Reaching the pooorest and Most Vulnerable through Inclusive Services and Participation.’
