Prof. Timothy Gonsalves: Professor Timothy Gonsalves is the first and present director of IIT Mandi. He was former Head of Department at IIT Madras. Recently, he headed a committee to look into poor female student ratio at the IITs. Tangaliya Weavers: Tangaliya weavers are famous for Tangaliya which is around 700 years old indigenous weave of Gujarat. It is a dotted woven woolen or cotton textile of Surendranagar district of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Tangaliya is common only to Gujarat. It is a commonly wrap around skirt worn by Bharwad shephered community of Gujarat. The dots in Tangaliya can be printed either in floral or geometrical motifs by using cotton or woolen yarn. Nand Kishore Singh: NK Singh is a politician, economist and former IAS Officer. He was heading a committee set up last year to set a new fiscal roadmap for revising the Fiscal Responsibility and Budgetary Management Act (FRBM Act). This week the committee has submitted its report. The committee says, “a new FRBM Act is critical to create better conditions for co-ordination between monetary and fiscal policy and also usher in a low interest rate regime.”
