IDA is the part of the World Bank Group that helps the world’s poorest countries.
It aims to reduce poverty and provides loans, referred to as credits, and grants to reduce inequalities and improve people’s living conditions.
IDA complements the functioning of IBRD – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
IDA also provides debt relief to Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) and Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI).
