A research fellow from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Xu Guanghui discovered new species of fish in China.

• The new fish is named as eltopleurus nitidus sp.
• It is the type of oldest and most primitive representative of the ovoviviparous neopterygian fish.
