Dr. Viveki Rai: Renowned Hindi and Bhojpuri litterateur Dr Viveki Rai passed away in a Varanasi hospital after illness. 92-year- old Dr Rai was born in 1924 in Ballia district of eastern Uttar Pradesh. He wrote about fifty books of stories, essays and novels. His novel Sonamati recognized as one of his best literary work.
M Balamuralikrishna : Singer-composer Mangalamapalli Balamuralikrishna, who caught the nation’s attention in Doordarshan’s iconic music video ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ in the eighties, passed away in Chennai. He was 86. Balamuralikrishna was awarded France government’s Order of Arts and Letters. He was instrumental for near about four decades.
M G K Menon: Renowned scientist Mambillikalathil Govind Kumar Menon, who spearheaded many scientific and development missions passed away. He was 88. Menon became the director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai in 1966 at the age of 38.
