Jamnalal Bajaj Awards: Well-known Gandhian and President of Tunisia's, Sheikh Rached Ghannouchi was among four prominent personalities conferred with the prestigious 39th Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation Awards for 2016. The other recipients are: Mohan Hirabai Hiralal of Vrikshamitra and Bon Behari Vishnu Nimbkar, founder of Nimbkar Agricultural Research Institute, both from Maharashtra, and Nannapaneni Manga Devi, founder-secretary, Sri Venkateswara Bala Kuteer & Chetana Charitable Trust in Andhra Pradesh. The award carried a citation, a trophy and a prize of Rs 10 lakh each.

Golden Peacock Award for corporate governance: The prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Governance for this year has been conferred upon the 'Maharatna' firm, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

Tata Literature Live Lifetime Achievement Award: Acclaimed Indian American fiction author Amitav Ghosh, 60, has been named for 2016 Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Indian literary space.

Global Citizenship Award: Imtiaz Sooliman, An Indian-origin man from South Africa, was awarded the Global Citizen Award for his "innovative and visionary" contribution to the global community. Imtiaz Sooliman founded the internationally-lauded Gift of the Givers Foundation, which is Africa's largest disaster relief organisation.
